Using FavQs

The short version
Collect and share quotes, credit them honestly, and don't abuse FavQs or the people who use it.
Your account
You need to be at least 13. Keep your password to yourself. You can export your favorites and private quotes, or delete your account, at any time.
Your quotes
You're responsible for what you add, and many quotes are other people's words, so credit them as accurately as you can. Public quotes become part of FavQs's shared collection: they stay public, without your name, even if you delete your account. Private quotes are only for you.
Copyright
Short, credited quotes are generally fair use or too short to copyright. Long excerpts of someone else's work aren't allowed. If you hold the rights to something here and disagree, our Copyright Policy explains what to do.
What not to do
No spam, nothing illegal or infringing, no harassment, and no one else's private information. Don't scrape the site or get around its security or limits; software should use the API, under the API Terms.
FavQs Pro
Pro renews each month until you cancel. Cancel any time from your Account page. Deleting your account cancels it, and we don't refund partial months unless the law requires it.
The apps and the API
Apple's standard app license applies to the apps along with these terms. Developers and AI agents also follow the API Terms.
The legal part
FavQs is provided as is, our liability is limited, and Illinois law applies, though you keep any right your own law gives you to sue at home.
Changes
We post changes here four weeks before they take effect. For significant ones, we ask you to accept the new terms the next time you're signed in on favqs.com. The full terms are the ones that count.
Terms of Service

These terms cover FavQs: the website at favqs.com, the FavQs apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV, the FavQs API, and the FavQs MCP endpoint for AI agents (together, the "Service"). Faceted Thought, LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("FavQs", "we" or "us"), runs the Service. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you use the API or the MCP endpoint, our API Terms of Service apply too. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.

Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we post the new version here with a new date. Changes take effect four weeks after we post them. If a change is significant, the next time you visit favqs.com while signed in, we ask you to accept the new terms before you go on; once you accept, they apply to you right away. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.
Who can use FavQs
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
Your account
Keep your password secret. You're responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has used it, tell us right away.
You can export your favorites and private quotes, and delete your account at any time, from your Account page. Deleting your account deletes your account details, your favorites, your private quotes, the quotes you hid and your votes. Public quotes you added stay on FavQs without your name, and we keep payment records as the law requires. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Your quotes
You're responsible for the quotes you add. Many quotes are other people's words, so add only what you have the right to share, and credit the person who said or wrote it as accurately as you can.
Adding someone else's words doesn't make them yours, and it doesn't give FavQs any rights in them. You keep whatever rights you have in what you add, and you give us permission to use it as follows:
Public quotes. You give FavQs a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual and irrevocable license to host, store, copy, format, display and distribute your public quotes through the Service, including the website, the apps, search, sharing, the API and the MCP endpoint, and to let our service providers process them to run those features. Public quotes become part of FavQs's shared collection: they stay public, even after you delete your account, without your name.
Private quotes. You give FavQs permission to store them and show them to you. That permission ends when you delete them or your account, once they leave our backups (within 120 days).
You can edit or delete your private quotes. To correct a public quote you added, email us.
We don't review quotes before they appear, and we don't verify their wording or attribution.
Most quotes on FavQs are short excerpts, credited to whoever said or wrote them. Short phrases generally can't be copyrighted, and we believe sharing short, attributed quotes is fair use. Longer passages are different: don't add long excerpts of someone else's copyrighted work. If you hold the rights to something on FavQs and disagree, use our Copyright Policy; we review every valid notice.
What not to do
Don't add or link to content that:
- is spam, advertising or a sales pitch;
- is illegal, or infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
- harasses, threatens or demeans people, or is gratuitously vulgar or sexual;
- reveals someone's private information, such as an address, phone number or email address;
- impersonates a person or organization, or misrepresents your connection to one.
Don't interfere with the Service or other people's use of it. Don't get around its security, filters or rate limits, and don't try to reach accounts or data that aren't yours.
The website is for people. Don't scrape it or use robots on it, and that includes the author portraits: don't download them in bulk, or show them on another website by linking to their files. Software should use the API or the MCP endpoint, under the API Terms. If you're researching FavQs's security, follow our security policy, which describes what we allow.
We may remove content, or suspend or close accounts, that break these terms.
FavQs Pro
FavQs Pro is a paid subscription, monthly or yearly. You can buy it on favqs.com, or in the FavQs apps through Apple's App Store or Google Play. The price and billing period are shown before you buy. It's one Pro on your FavQs account wherever you buy it, and it works on the website, in the API and in every FavQs app.
- Renewal: Pro renews automatically at the end of each billing period, and you're charged for the next one, until you cancel.
- Canceling: cancel where you bought it, at any time before it renews: on favqs.com from your Account page, under Billing information; for the App Store, in your Apple account's subscriptions; for Google Play, in Google Play's subscriptions. Pro stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Bought on favqs.com: Stripe handles your payment, and we don't see or store your card number. Deleting your account cancels this subscription at once, and Pro ends with it. We don't refund partial periods unless the law requires it.
- Bought in an app: Apple or Google handles your payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds, under its own terms, and we don't see your payment details. Ask Apple or Google for any refund. Deleting your FavQs account ends Pro on FavQs but doesn't cancel the store's subscription: cancel it with Apple or Google too, or it will keep renewing.
- Paying twice: we'll tell you before you buy if your account already has Pro. If you do end up paying for Pro in two places, cancel one where you bought it; each refunds under its own rules.
- Prices may include or add taxes where you live. In the apps, the store sets the price in your currency.
- Price changes: if the price of a subscription bought on favqs.com changes, we'll email you at least 30 days before the renewal it applies to, so you can cancel first. For one bought in an app, Apple or Google tells you as its rules require.
- What's included: Pro includes the features the pricing page lists as included when you subscribe. Features shown as coming aren't part of what you pay for until they arrive. We may add to Pro; if we take away something it included, we'll tell you first, and you can cancel.
The FavQs apps
The FavQs apps come from Apple's App Store and Google Play. For the Apple apps, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies along with these terms; for the Android app, Google Play's terms do. Apple and Google aren't responsible for the apps or their support; FavQs is.
FavQs's name and materials
The FavQs name and logo, and the Service's design, text and software, belong to Faceted Thought, LLC. Rights in quotes stay with whoever holds them, often the person who said or wrote them; FavQs doesn't own them. These terms don't give you any right to the FavQs name or logo, except as the API Terms allow.
The author portraits, the drawings and short animations of the people quotes are attributed to, are made for FavQs with the help of AI image and video models, from public-domain photos. Faceted Thought, LLC holds whatever rights exist in them. You may see them on the Service and in the FavQs apps, and share a quote's page or its share image. Don't copy, republish or redistribute the portraits themselves, or use them to build another collection, site or app. The public-domain photos they're drawn from remain free for anyone to use. A portrait shows who a quote is attributed to; it doesn't mean that person, or anyone acting for them, endorses FavQs.
Links and other people's content
The Service links to other websites, and most of its content comes from the people who use it. We're not responsible for other websites, and we don't promise that any quote is accurate, complete or correctly attributed. You rely on content at your own risk.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something on FavQs infringes your copyright, follow our Copyright Policy. We close the accounts of repeat infringers when appropriate.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited. Apart from that, and to the fullest extent the law allows, FavQs isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from the Service, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.
Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Indemnity
If someone else makes a claim against FavQs because of content you added, your breaking these terms or the law, or your misconduct, you'll cover FavQs's resulting losses and costs, including reasonable attorneys' fees.
Governing law and disputes
The laws of the State of Illinois govern these terms, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute about the Service will be decided in the state or federal courts in Sangamon County, Illinois, and you and FavQs consent to their jurisdiction. If the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts, or under your own law, these terms don't take that away.
Ending these terms
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we have to stop offering the Service. The sections on your quotes' public license, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law continue after your use ends.
General
These terms, the Privacy Policy and, if you use them, the API Terms are the whole agreement between you and FavQs about the Service. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't waived it. You can't transfer these terms; we can, as part of a merger or sale.
